Reschedule of filming

We had planned to film on Sunday and I had organised to go on leave with Nikky, but on Saturday we all received a message from Christie in our group chat saying that she had gone to hospital and that we would not be able to film on the Sunday. As most of the filming was planned to be done at her house we could not film anything at all. Christie then emailed Mr Andrews informing him of what has happened and he replied saying he would give us an extension. We then went to class today and discussed what has happened and organised what we were going to do and when we were going to film. We have now organised that we are going to film Friday and Saturday and then use Sunday and Monday for editing. We have already filmed down at the junior school so I converted that footage today and we can put that together later this week! We also are taking causal photos for our photo album tomorrow!

Reflection 22/10/13

This lesson we have been planning our filming for tomorrow, Thursday and Sunday. We all had to email our period 3 teachers and ask if we could leave 10-5 mins early so we would be able to go and film at the Junior School tomorrow which we tried to do last week but we cant. This lesson we have also been finalising what we are going to do on Thursday afternoon so we are organised and what we need. Hopefully if we film tomorrow and Thursday we will be feeling a little more organised and less stressed. We worked out that if we get everything filmed on Sunday we will have enough time to edit our our 45 seconds each text week.

Reschedule Wednesday filming

As we had organised we went down to the Junior school to do our filming during Chapel as Mrs Brodar allowed us to, to get down there and discover that it was open day and we are unable to film today. So we are now rescheduling our filming schedule and are going to attempt to film on Wednesday of next week. Hopefully we can miss out on the last 10 minutes of period 3 on Wednesday and then we will have 15 mins into period 4. That will then give us 25 minutes to film which we think is a sufficient amount. Hopefully Mr Andrews will be  able to email our teachers and ask if we can miss the last 10 minutes of class so it will make it easier for us. It messed up our organisation not being able to film today but hopefully we can work around it and still get the younger girls filmed.

Reflection 10/10/13

This week we have been organising our music video in terms of finishing off shot lists, beginning storyboards, making ourselves organised by producing a schedule, organising filming times and many other things. We have decided that we will be filming the prep school students on Thursday if we are able to get some time off chapel as there "play time" is between 11 and 12 everyday. We have emailed the Junior school teacher and she said that it is fine to go down and film the girls and we also emailed Ms Brodar asking if we are allowed to miss the end of chapel but we are still yet have not received a response. We also had to organise when we were going to do our out of school filming. We realised whilst trying to organise this that we have to film on Thursday the 24th which involved me missing chapel. I had to email Mrs Churchill about this and she has confirmed that I can go on leave and miss chapel for this particular occasion. On the Thursday we will try and take most if all the photos for the video and will attempt to do some filming. The second day we are filming out of school is Sunday the 27th of October. On this day we will have to do the rest of our filming so we have given ourselves a whole day to do this. Nikky will take me on leave for this and we will film at Christies house. We began to storyboard today in class and so far I think our group is fairly organised in terms of planning. If the group uses its time wisely when we are filming I think the music video, Pictures of You, will be a great success, a very emotional video and will be one we can look back on for many years to come!

Music Video Clip Treatment- Pictures of You

MUSIC VIDEO CLIP TREATMENT

Type of clip (Highlight your choice/s) performance / narrative / collage Concept for clip Explain what narrative/images the clip will contain	Narrative Montana’s two best friend’s die in a car crash and the story begins when she first finds out. The story starts with Montana downstairs and her mum trying to comfort her when she runs into her room and slams the door. Then Montana gets really angry and upset and starts throwing things around her room and picks up a photo album. Montana throws the album on the ground and several photos then fall out. This is when the music begins to play and she picks up the first photo, which is of her two passed away best friends and one other in kindergarten.  The music video then moves into that photo and that particular memory is what the viewer sees. The screen then zooms out again and it is seen again Montana crying. She then flicks the page and stops on a photo of her and her friends hugging at graduation. The viewer will then see the music video again zoom into this image, which will show the memory of them, graduating. For the last time the video will then zoom out and show Montana crying again, she will continuing flicking the page and will stop again for the last time on a photograph of her two best friends that died (Lauren and Nikky) holding up there P plates and an image of them in their car. The video will then zoom in and show all the girls in Nikky’s car driving down the street for their first drive together. Nikky’s other best friend from the friendship group of four will then turn up and they are seen both sitting on the bed, they rip up the photo and are seen hugging and crying. The music then stops, which will be the end of the song and will show the two alive girls looking at themselves in the mirror in a black dresses and then their mum calls them downstairs saying its time and as they walk out it shows on the desk the funeral letter and the newspaper article about a car crash and two girls dying.
Message What message will your clip contain or what is its purpose? Style What look and feel will your clip have?	The purpose of this story is to show Montana and her three friends story and the pain she is going through to lose loved ones. The message of the music video on the other hand is to express the point of not taking people for granted and living every day like it’s your last. The video has a very sad mood as Montana has just lost two of her best friends. This will be achieved by placing a lot of dramatic shots and camera angles that make Montana look weak and sad in throughout the video. This will also be achieved by making the memories that are expressed look like the girls have had an unbreakable bond since they were young and had the best times together.
Technical codes Explain the ideas you have about camera work, transition devices, lighting, special effects, framing and composition	The video will contain a lot of shots that transfer back and fourth from the present to the past. This is so the viewer/audience will be trapped between the emotions of what Montana is dealing with. This is between remembering the happy and un-forgetful memories that were created to realising what she has just lost. The transitions that will be used will be mostly zooms in and out. This may seem very armature at first but this is the most appropriate transitional method to be used in this sort of clip. The other transitions will be simple cuts between shot, to give it a very dramatic feel at the appropriate times. The clip will vary from between bright, warm and dull light. The bright, warm light will be used when the memories are being showed, where as the dull light will be expressed when the shots are of Montana/Montana and her friend reflecting.
Audio codes What is the song about and how do the lyrics relate to the visuals you have selected? Will you be adding an additional sound?	This story has been developed partly from the lyrics, imagination and the feel that the song gave us. We have developed the whole photograph idea from the “Pictures of you, pictures of me” lyrics, we have also used the whole depressed and sad feel to give to the video’s feel and storyline.
Pace What sort of pace does your song have and how will this be reflected and created in your clip? Written codes If you are using any written codes, what text will you use? What is its significance? Symbolic codes Will there be any symbols in your clip and what will they be? Will you repeat any images or use a motif? How will the symbolism you have used contribute to the message of your clip?	The song has a change in pace throughout, so we made the video have one as well. In the happy memory shots of the video, it will be a faster pace where as in the sad, depressing parts the video will be really slow. During the chorus part of the song a similar shot will also been shown in the video every time. There will be no written codes throughout our video. The symbolic codes throughout the video are the change in emotion. As there is a change in emotion in the song, there is a change in emotion in the video.
Key elements of mise-en-scene to be used Explain the settings needed and outline key props and costumes needed	The video will be set in four different settings/locations such as Montana’s family house, the kindergarten, the graduation at school and the driving away of the car. Another element of mise-en-scene used will also be the style of acting which is the sad and depressing acting in Montana’s house and the happy, vibrant acting in the memories.
Appeal What things in your clip do you think will appeal to a youth audience?	I think that this video would appeal to a youth audience as involves people their age and a very common cause of death. Another way it would appeal to youth is the whole idea of reaching graduation, getting your P’s and growing up with the people you love the most.
